FRENCH QUARTER URBAN ANALYSIS
Spring 2020 Integrated Studio, Tulane University

We began with the creation of a studio manual, for which I analyzed
various urban elements through historical research + on-site observations.

Layers begin to show how a variable chosen within a lot can be representative of the french quarter as a whole

FINDINGS

buildings with no balconies
tend to have flat roofs
flat roofs tend to be
ex-industrial or newly renovated commercial

patterns of lot centerpoints decreasing
mean the area is densifying
into an industrial or multifamily complex

for the last 200 years
street grain has remained the same

the quantity of phantom courtyards
means modern densification
primarily took place in back lots
